I had climbed Hadley Mountain to watch the 2012 Perigee Full Moon, or "Supermoon", come up over the mountains. This shot of the Firetower was taken just before sunset and a few minutes before the moon rose.
The Hadley Mountain Fire Observation Station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. It was built in 1917 and is one of the initial ten towers purchased by the state to provide a first line of defense against forest fires in the Adirondacks.
