An avid outdoorsmen and self-taught photographer, Zack has been photographing the natural world for over 10 years, and has been shooting semi-professionally for the past four of those. He grew up in the small town of Corinth, NY, often referred to as “The Gateway to the Adirondacks”. Fascinated with wildlife and nature in general he captured his first photos at the age of 13, soon replacing the old 35mm point and shoot with a manual SLR camera. He presently shoots with a digital SLR all of the time. Although much of his work is of the Adirondack State Park, his love of nature and photography has taken him all over the United States including Montana, Wyoming, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. His photographs have appeared in the pages of several regional and international publications all over the world. Zack Clothier resides in the Adirondack Park, in Athol, NY.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Thank you for taking the time to have a look at the natural world as I see it. I hope you will enjoy and also be inspired by the images displayed here. These photographs are the result of my deep-rooted passion for the wilderness and the wild animals that live in these hostile, sometimes unforgiving environments. With each image I attempt to bring you, the viewer, to that place, at that very moment when I clicked the shutter. With just my camera alone it is almost impossible to reproduce and convey a scene exactly as I experienced it in the field. I employ the use of today's digital darkroom along with numerous field techniques to better express what I saw and felt at that particular moment in time. Although I enjoy this entire process, just being out there exploring these magnificent landscapes is what drives me to capture them for all to see. Through my images I hope to raise awareness to help protect these natural places for future generations to come. As you look through these images free yourself from everyday worries and focus your attention on one of life's greatest pleasures, the gift of nature.
Let's hope it gets good ones soon!
